On June 4-6, 2025, Oulu in Finland hosted the 47th Association for Interdisciplinary Studies Conference \u201cShaping the Future in the Era of Polycrisis\u201d<\/a>. The conference took place outside of the United States for the third time. The conference brought together over 300 participants from 25 countries to address global challenges through interdisciplinary dialogue. Topics included systems thinking, sustainability transitions, digitalization, co-production of knowledge, and future-oriented education.<\/p>

ArcSolution project was featured at one of the conference themes \u201cCo-production of knowledge\u201d with own session \u201cOne Health approach to study the health of humans, animals and environment in the Arctic\u201d. The session was developed jointly with EU sibling projects, such as ILLUQ and Iceberg to present their latest research. In addition to the presentations from these projects, session was open to receive abstracts from anywhere. For instance, we had additional presentations about education (course development in a One Health topic), reindeer and reindeer herders\u2019 health in Finnish Lapland, trends in environmental contaminants in the Arctic, and novel experimental studies on disease driver mechanisms.<\/p>

The session lasted 2,5 hours and raised good discussions on the application of One Health framework in the context of Arctic changes. It is also part of the activities of the One Health sub-group of the UArctic Thematic Network \u201cHealth and Well-being in the Arctic\u201d<\/a>.
