{"id":974,"date":"2026-05-04T08:37:15","date_gmt":"2026-05-04T06:37:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/site.nord.no\/arcsolution\/?p=974"},"modified":"2026-05-04T08:37:15","modified_gmt":"2026-05-04T06:37:15","slug":"turning-classrooms-into-labs-arcsolution-engages-students-in-arctic-research","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.nord.no\/arcsolution\/2026\/05\/04\/turning-classrooms-into-labs-arcsolution-engages-students-in-arctic-research\/","title":{"rendered":"Turning Classrooms into Labs: ArcSolution Engages Students in Arctic Research"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Researchers from ArcSolution were visiting Troms\u00f8 and Skjerv\u00f8y last week to follow up with two schools involved in the project\u2019s ongoing school collaborations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arja Rautio, Katrin Vorkamp, Paula Guedes and Lars-Otto Reiersen were meeting with teachers at high schools in Troms\u00f8 and Skjerv\u00f8y to discuss current activities and develop new study ideas connected to Arctic environmental research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Troms\u00f8, Kongsbakken VGS will run a study on indoor air quality, supported by ArcSolution scientists. Students will measure air quality using a range of sampling methods, sensors and analytical approaches. They will generate real-time data and prepare samples for chemical analysis in the laboratories of Aarhus University and later data interpretation at the school. The work will give students hands-on experience with environmental monitoring and scientific data collection, as well as insights into the potential exposure to indoor air pollutants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Troms\u00f8 collaboration is also exploring a second minor study related to marine biota sampling. ArcSolution will follow up on this initiative and support the school according to the school\u2019s interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Skjerv\u00f8y, Nord-Troms VGS has a strong interest in marine pollution and has already outlined a study focusing on litter on the sea floor, including how different types of litter can be identified and categorized.
