Sci."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A large-scale sampling was conducted by the researchers of Swedish University of Agricultural <!--more-->Sciences (SLU) and personnel from Vattenbrukscentrum Norr AB (VBCN); to study key factors related to reproductive success in Arctic charr.<\/p>\n<p>During October &#8211; November 2020, more than 180 pair crossings amongst Arctic charr broodstock have been carried out by the team. The stripped eggs (see image below) from each individual cross were incubated in separate trays until hatching. The survival recordings from each pair cross will allow scientists to investigate the genetic factors associated with reproductive success.<\/p>\n<p>During October &#8211; November 2020, using special equipment (NucleoCounter that measures sperm concentration, the left image below; Computer-assisted sperm analysis equipment, CASA system purchased for the ARCTAQUA project that records motility-related parameters, the right image below), Dr Henrik Jeuthe (SLU) and Dr Christos Palaiokostas (SLU) assessed male fertility parameters at the facilities of VBCN, K\u00e4larne,
