to establish The CANOPY Project. Supported by funding from the <a href=\"https:\/\/diku.no\/en\/\">Norwegian Agency for International Cooperation and Quality Enhancement in Higher Education<\/a> (DIKU), this partnership aims to address, from a holistic and international perspective, the most pressing issues currently facing the education sector to better prepare the next generation of teachers. Connecting educational research, classroom experience, student mobility, and institutional management, CANOPY will develop global competencies in pedagogy, research, and training through international collaboration.<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><strong>Innovation<\/strong> and <strong>Inclusion<\/strong> are the guiding principles of CANOPY, and the initiatives of each year of the project will focus on a different priority area comprehended by these principles:<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 80px\">2020\/21: Educational Leadership<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 80px\">2022: Digital Innovation and Educational Technology<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 80px\">2023: Indigenous Studies, Diversity, and Inclusion<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 80px\"><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong>2024: Exceptional Learners<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">At the core of this project is the short-term mobility of the CANOPY Partner Group (CPG). This group will consist of an annually-rotating 14-member collective, with Canada and Norway each represented by 7 members per year, including:<\/p><ul><li style=\"list-style-type: none\"><ul><li style=\"list-style-type: none\"><ul><li>1 representative from university leadership<\/li><li>2 university academic staff<\/li><li>1 local school teacher or leader<\/li><li>3 teacher education students<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><h3 style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><span style=\"color: #005779\"><strong>Activities:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3><p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">The CPG will meet twice in 2024:<\/p><ul><li style=\"list-style-type: none\"><ul><li style=\"list-style-type: none\"><ul><li>In Norway, at Nord University (Bod\u00f8) from 4 &#8211; 8 March 2024 (note: MAGLU students are only required to attend 2,5 days of this visit)<\/li><li>In Canada, at Queen\u2019s University (Kingston) from 4 &#8211; 8 November 2024 (with travel time, 2 &#8211; 10 November)<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">Each meeting will be split into two sections:<\/p><ol><li>Participation in the concentrated CANOPY Partnership Seminar. This seminar will allow for the fourteen members to meet, engage in, and lead a variety of whole-group and smaller sessions on the annual topic. to establish The CANOPY Project. Supported by funding from the <a href=\"https:\/\/diku.no\/en\/\">Norwegian Agency for International Cooperation and Quality Enhancement in Higher Education<\/a> (DIKU), this partnership aims to address, from a holistic and international perspective, the most pressing issues currently facing the education sector to better prepare the next generation of teachers. Connecting educational research, classroom experience, student mobility, and institutional management, CANOPY will develop global competencies in pedagogy, research, and training through international collaboration.<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><strong>Innovation<\/strong> and <strong>Inclusion<\/strong> are the guiding principles of CANOPY, and the initiatives of each year of the project will focus on a different priority area comprehended by these principles:<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 80px\">2020\/21: Educational Leadership<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 80px\">2022: Digital Innovation and Educational Technology<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 80px\">2023: Indigenous Studies, Diversity, and Inclusion<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 80px\"><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong>2024: Exceptional Learners<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">At the core of this project is the short-term mobility of the CANOPY Partner Group (CPG). This group will consist of an annually-rotating 14-member collective, with Canada and Norway each represented by 7 members per year, including:<\/p><ul><li style=\"list-style-type: none\"><ul><li style=\"list-style-type: none\"><ul><li>1 representative from university leadership<\/li><li>2 university academic staff<\/li><li>1 local school teacher or leader<\/li><li>3 teacher education students<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><h3 style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><span style=\"color: #005779\"><strong>Activities:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3><p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">The CPG will meet twice in 2024:<\/p><ul><li style=\"list-style-type: none\"><ul><li style=\"list-style-type: none\"><ul><li>In Norway, at Nord University (Bod\u00f8) from 4 &#8211; 8 March 2024 (2 &#8211; 10 March, with travel time)<\/li><li>In Canada, at Queen\u2019s University (Kingston) from 4 &#8211; 8 November 2024 (<strong>note: Queen&#8217;s students are only required to attend 2,5 days of this visit<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">Each meeting will be split into two sections:<\/p><ol><li>Participation in the concentrated CANOPY Partnership Seminar. This seminar will allow for the fourteen members to meet, engage in, and lead a variety of whole-group and smaller sessions on the annual topic. Such sessions may include (but are not limited to): thematic discussions; research presentations; lesson plans; syllabi or programme development; tool, method, or module demonstrations; policy review; or ethical consultations.
