Since I have flipped my classroom anyway I decided\u00a0 to take one more step and move out of the computer lab and into the cloud for a work shop on video game ethics and culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We kept at it for almost 3 hours going through 9 questions I put forward, ranging from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.esrb.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ESRB<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.askaboutgames.com\/pegi-age-ratings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PEGI<\/a>-type ratings, Aristotle, Plato and Euripides on violence in video games, harvesting <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20160621225949\/http:\/\/www.criticalcommons.org\/Members\/CTCS505\/clips\/Bioshock%20Little%20Sister.mp4\/view\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Little Sisters<\/a>, how women are <a href=\"http:\/\/sophiabickley.wordpress.com\/page\/2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">portrayed in video games<\/a> and is it possible to play <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Walking_Dead_(video_game)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Walking Dead<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mass_Effect\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mass Effect<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/BioShock\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BioShock<\/a> based on virtue ethics?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/site.nord.no\/didaktiskebetraktninger\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2024\/03\/utsnitt2twitterm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1595\" height=\"834\" src=\"https:\/\/site.nord.no\/didaktiskebetraktninger\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2024\/03\/utsnitt2twitterm.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3244\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Excerpt from the Twitter conversation (Click on the image for a larger version)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>And the point of it all? A part from wanting to engage them in reflections on some of the main topics of my lectures (found in the lecture blog <a href=\"http:\/\/spo300.wordpress.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">spo300<\/a>), training them in synthesis (140 characters necessitates concise formulations), I also wanted to give them points to use in their ongoing work with an individual essay. The majority of the students found this experiment interesting and rewarding.
