Her thesis looks at the functions of conferences within Arctic governance. So, she has been to quite a few conferences:<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"auto\">Plan sessions in advance, seek out (and talk to!) people who might be relevant for your work<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">Talk to people from different sectors and affiliations.<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">Decide to bring back at least three things from the conference to your work \u2013 so that these arenas can have an impact.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"l7ghb35v kjdc1dyq kmwttqpk gh25dzvf jikcssrz n3t5jt4f\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Beate is responsible for three courses: a Bachelor&#8217;s thesis in IR, a Bachelor&#8217;s thesis in Circumpolar studies, and the Norwegian Political Institutions. She also teaches the &laquo;text seminars&raquo; (EX150S) for the first semester students \u2013 which she greatly enjoys! She thinks it is great to meet the students early in their careers and introduce them to academic life.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"l7ghb35v kjdc1dyq kmwttqpk gh25dzvf jikcssrz n3t5jt4f\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Beate has a general research interest in regimes, particularly in the Arctic, agenda setting, interstate relations, and security politics. Since working on her Ph.D., she has been interested in Norwegian interests and how Norway works to promote these and advance its position in the Arctic.
