Tiril has a master’s degree in political science from the University of Oslo. She also held a master’s scholarship at Fridtjof Nansen Institute. Tiril is currently doing a PhD in sociology at Nord University and teaches History, Politics and Northern Resources.<\/div>\n

Tiril\u2019s research interests concern High North politics and especially Svalbard politics. She is interested in the intersection between security politics, resource politics and environmental politics.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Her PhD project is about power and interests in Norwegian Svalbard politics. The general research question is \u201cwhich interests prevails and why\u201d. The project is a qualitative case study, concerning the political processes of 1) the phase-out of coal in Longyearbyen, 2) new environmental regulations on Svalbard and 3) the Norwegian host role in the international research community of Ny-\u00c5lesund.<\/div>\n

There really is no such thing as free time when you are a PhD student, but when she has some time off, Tiril likes to enjoy the city life of Bod\u00f8.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Fun fact: When Tiril was younger, she wanted to become a royal court journalist. Her favorite color is green, favorite animal is a dog and her favorite place is the Arctic.<\/div>\n
