If your degree is not from a New Zealand university you can calculate your Grade Point Equivalent (GPE) using this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gpecalculator.auckland.ac.nz\/#\/\">online calculater<\/a>.<br \/>\n(2) There is also the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.studyinnewzealand.govt.nz\/how-to-apply\/scholarship\/search-results?keyword=new-zealand-international-doctoral-research-scholarships-nzidrs\">NZIDRS<\/a> scheme<br \/>\n(3) NZ Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mfat.govt.nz\/en\/aid-and-development\/scholarships\/types-of-scholarships\">MFAT) scholarships<\/a> to students from some Asian and Pacific countries,<br \/>\n(4) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aid.govt.nz\/funding-and-contracts\/scholarships\/eligible-countries\/south-asia\">Commonwealth Scholarships<\/a><br \/>\n(5) Other grants listed on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.auckland.ac.nz\/en\/for\/current-students\/cs-scholarships-and-awards\/cs-overview-of-scholarships\/cs-scholarships-administered-by-external-providers.html\">UoA website<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.auckland.ac.nz\/en\/study\/scholarships-and-awards\/find-a-scholarship.html\">How to find a scholarship<\/a><br \/>\nIn some cases, students can get grants from their home country.<br \/>\nFees are same for national and international students for a PhD, but much higher for an overseas MSc student. Check university for latest tuition fees.<br \/>\nOnce accepted, the university provides reasonable funds for research costs for MSc and PhD students. There are several schemes for other small research funding grants for students but typically NZ$2,000. In addition, there are modest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.naturespace.org.nz\/national-funding\">national grants<\/a> aimed at community and school groups which may be able to support some graduate work.<br \/>\nMarine conservation funding sources are listed on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whalefish.org\/sources-of-funding\">Whalefish<\/a>. The <a href=\"http:\/\/nzmss.org\/nzmss-student-support\/#Student%20Research%20Grant\">New Zealand Marine Sciences Society<\/a> also provides small, once-off grants for research and travel to your first international conference.<br \/>\nAuckland is a relatively expensive city so earning enough on part-time work to also do full-time graduate studies is not really possible.
