Pre-Conference Programme

The city of Bodø has a lot to offer, both when it comes to experience of nature and cultural experiences. As a participant of the conference, there is a special programme for you to enjoy and participate in, if you wish to – as follows:

SUNDAY May 5

HIKE to a selected mountain peak: time: 11.00 – ca.18.00 (level: challenging)

Free of charge, preregistration compulsory

There are several mountain peaks around Bodø which offer more challenging hikes with amazing rewards in terms of views. May is still very early in the year, but if snow and weather conditions allow, there will be an opportunity for a longer and more strenuous hill walk to either Steigtind (793 asl), Per Karlstadtind (1036 asl) or Heggmotind (798 asl).

A bus will pick you up at the conference hotel at 11.00 and drive you to the beginning of the footpath. There will be a guide to take you for the mountain hike.

Please note that this walk is recommended only for persons who are reasonably fit and have previous experience of mountain hiking in steep terrain. Hiking shoes, suitable clothing and a lunch pack are compulsory. The bus will pick you up at around 17.15 and take you back to the hotel.

This activity is free of charge. A registration form will be sent out March 6, 2024 where you can sign up for the hike.

HIKE to Keiservarden / time: 12.00-15.30

Free of charge, preregistration compulsory

Keiservarden is an easily reachable hiking destination, 366 metres above sea level, in Bodø. A bus will pick you up at the conference hotel at 12.00 and drive you to the beginning of the footpath. There will be a guide to take you to the top of the hill where you will enjoy the magnificent 360° panoramic views. The bus will pick you up at 15.15 and take you back to the hotel. This activity is free of charge and available for conference participants only, but you have to register for it as there are a limited number of seats on the bus. A registration form will be sent out March 6, 2024 where you can sign up for the hike.

HIKE to Bestefarvarden / time: 12.00-14.30

If you prefer a slightly easier climb and still enjoy the views then we suggest a trip to Besterfarvarden. A bus will pick you up at the conference hotel at 12.00 and drive you to the beginning of the footpath. There will be a guide to take you to the top of the hill and the bus will pick you up at 14.00 to take you back to the hotel. This activity is free of charge, but you have to register for it as there are a limited number of seats on the bus.
