European Journal of Sport and Society (EJSS), one of the leading international journals in sociology of sport, now has an editorial team from Nord University. RESPONSE (Research Group for Sport and Society) at the Faculty of Social Sciences has taken on the roles of Editor-in-Chief, Book Review Editor, and Editorial Assistants for the journal. Previously, Associate Professor Adam B. Evans from the University of Copenhagen served as Editor-in-Chief of EJSS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new Editor-in-Chief is Anne Tj\u00f8nndal. She is a Professor of Sociology of Sport at the Faculty of Social Sciences and a leading researcher in innovation and sport. Tj\u00f8nndal has been a member of the EJSS editorial board since 2019 and a Co-Editor since 2023. This is the first time the journal has had a Norwegian Editor-in-Chief, and Tj\u00f8nndal is also the first woman to hold the position of Editor-in-Chief of EJSS. Tj\u00f8nndal is supported by an international team of Co-Editors: Professor Remco Hoekman (Mulier Instituut), Associate Professor Verena Lenneis (Aalborg University), Professor Maureen Smith (University of California), and Professor Pamela Wicker (Bielefeld University). The role of Book Review Editor is held by Dr Daniele Canini (Faculty of Social Sciences). The new Editorial Assistants are Kristian Kj\u00f8lstad Sigvartsen, Frida Austmo W\u00e5gan, Stian R\u00f8sten, and Emma Wulff Ginnerup, all of whom are PhD candidates at FSV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
EJSS is the journal of the\u00a0European Association for Sociology of Sport (EASS)\u00a0and an important publication outlet for sociology of sport research in Europe. The editorial transition therefore strengthens Nord University\u2019s international position in the field of sociology of sport. It also consolidates RESPONSE\u2019s role as an international leading research group in sport, innovation, and society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To mark the editorial takeover, RESPONSE has produced a special three-part podcast series dedicated to the editorial takeover of EJSS, featuring Adam B. Evans, the outgoing Editor-in-Chief, and Verena Lenneis, who previously served as the jounral\u2019s Booke Review Editor. In the serie\u2019s final episode, Evans looks back on his time at the helm of the journal in a conversation with Anne Tj\u00f8nndal, his successor, discussing what sets EJSS apart within the field of sports sociology, how the journal has evolved over time and what it actually means to take on the role of Editor-in-Chief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
