The RSDS Research Group from Politecnico di Torino visit TRAFIKKLAB

First international visit for TRAFIKKLAB, NORD University, Traffic Division, hosting a delegation of researchers coming from the Road Safety and Driving Simulation Lab (RSDS) at Politecnico di Torino, Italy. Three PhD Candidates (eng. Alberto Portera, eng. Alessandra Lioi, and eng. Suyi Mao) and a Master Student, Arash Hassani Barbin, had the chance to getting known with the Stjørdal Campus, its research team and its facilities

The visit started with a Getting-Known meeting in the morning with the research group, presenting each other relevant ongoing research project and results. The RSDS Laboratory @ PoliTO works with very similar topics to TRAFIKKLAB, with a special focus on road safety, driving behavior and road design. Of course, the visitors had the chance to visit TRAFIKKLAB and test the different equipments available there, some of them are in common with RSDS, enlightning interesting opportunities for cross-cultural cooperation.

Active since 2015, the Road Safety and Driving Simulation Laboratory (RSDS), supports the activities of the ICAR-04 (Roads, Railways, Airports) scientific sector regarding the geometric design of road, with specific emphasis to road safety issues associated to any user (i.e., drivers and passengers, cyclists and pedestrians). The research topics concern, among the others, (1) operational speed measurements and modelling, (2) vehicle, driver, infrastructure, and environment interaction, (3) operational effects of road geometrics (4) sight analysis (5) safety analysis through the use of predicting methods.
