Visit from prof. Dario Babic, University in Zagabria, Croatia

At the end of April NORD University, Traffic Division, had the honour to host prof. Dario Babic, from University in Zagabria, Croatia.
The research stay, founded through Erasmus+ fundings from University in Zagabria, has been organized by prof. Marinelli, in close cooperation with the whole Traffic Division, and many are the topics covered during the stay.

The visit started with a Getting-Known meeting in the morning with the whole Division, presenting each other the resepctive Universities, their organizational structure and the research/education areas covered by both Institution. After lunch, a short tour of the campus has been concluded with an extended visit to TRAFIKKLAB, exploring the possibilities for cooperation in many different fields.


Dario Babic is assistant professor at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, University of Zagreb (Croatia), with extensive experience in the field of road safety, road infrastructure management as well as road markings and signs. He has a Ph.D. on “Road markings service life prediction model”. Currently, he is the Head of the accredited Testing Laboratory at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences focused on the quality control of road markings and signs. In 2019, he completed postdoctoral research at the Transportation Research Institute, Hasselt University (Belgium). He is a member of the Croatian Chamber of Transport Engineers and several EU standardization working groups.


Prof. Babic had also the opportunity to discover the business & research environment in Stjørdal, by visiting NAF test track Lånke , and Trondheim, by meeting with the company VIRTUR and the driving school WAY. The latter are very active in the field of driving education and driving simulation.

Lastly, prof. Babic held a seminar with topic “Driving simulator in road safety & road markings and signs impact on driver’s behaviour“, opening an interesting exchange of ideas for possible cooperation on driving behavior and driving safety both for passenger cars but also for motorized two-wheelers.
