Equipped with AMOLED displays offering a resolution of 1440×1600 pixels per eye, the Vive Pro ensures sharp images and vibrant colors. Its 110-degree field of view and 90 Hz refresh rate provide smooth and natural visuals. The SteamVR™ 2.0 tracking system allows precise movement tracking using base stations, making it ideal for applications requiring high accuracy. Additionally, the headset features integrated headphones with 3D spatial audio, enhancing immersion further.

The Vive Pro is lightweight and ergonomically designed for comfort during extended use. It supports various interfaces, including USB and DisplayPort, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of systems. The headset’s modular design allows for easy upgrades and customization, making it a versatile tool for both professional and personal use.

Research Areas

The HTC Vive Pro is utilized in various research areas related to road safety and driver behavior. In the field of driver education, it provides a safe and controlled environment for novice drivers to practice and learn driving skills, mostly used in connection with our driving simulator THOR. Researchers use the Vive Pro to study driver behavior and reactions in simulated driving scenarios, helping to identify factors that influence safe driving practices. At TRAFIKKLAB the VR Headset from HTC can be also implemented for research related to pedestrian, thanks to the open VR Arena dedicated to VR experiences with free movement. As an example, VR technologies are now being tested to evaluate the risk level perceived when riding e-scooters.

Furthermore, the Vive Pro is used to educate drivers on the importance of road safety and to train them in handling complex driving situations, thereby reducing the risk of accidents. This can be done by experiencing immersive situations without the exposure to any risk. In fact, by creating realistic virtual environments, the Vive Pro enables researchers to conduct experiments that would be difficult or dangerous to perform in real life, contributing to the development of safer and more effective driving education programs.

Feature

Specification

Display

Dual AMOLED

Resolution

1440×1600 pixels per eye

Refresh Rate

90 Hz

Field of View

110 degrees

Audio

Hi-Res certificate headphones (removable)

Tracking System

SteamVR™ 2.0

Sensors

G-sensor, gyroscope, proximity, IPD sensor

Connections

Bluetooth, USB-C port for peripherals

Ergonomics

Adjustable IPD, headphones, headstrap

Minimum Computer Specs

Intel® Core™ i5-4590 or AMD FX™ 8350, 4 GB RAM, NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 970 or AMD Radeon ™ R9 290

Recommended Graphics

NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1070/Quadro P5000 or above, AMD Radeon™ Vega 56 or above

General Description The HTC Vive Pro is an advanced virtual reality headset designed to deliver a high-quality immersive experience.
