The meeting took place at <strong>CIMCYC<\/strong> (Mind, Brain, and Behavior Research Center), a world-class facility with which we have maintained a successful collaboration for several years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Multidisciplinary Approach: Engineering Meets Psychology<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the most significant aspects of this partnership is its <strong>multidisciplinary nature<\/strong>. By bridging the gap between different fields, the project leverages a unique synergy:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>CIMCYC\u2019s expertise<\/strong> in cognitive psychology and human behavior provides deep insights into the &#8220;Mind and Brain&#8221; of the driver.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><strong>TRAFIKKLAB<\/strong> \u2019s engineering and technical focus<\/strong> (at Nord University and Polytechnic of Turin) provides the infrastructure and simulation expertise to test these behaviors in controlled, high-tech environments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This collaboration allows the <strong>SARAH project<\/strong>\u2014an initiative funded by Spanish national authorities\u2014to study <strong>Smart Road technologies<\/strong> not just as technical tools, but as elements that fundamentally change how humans interact with the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Tri-National Research Synergy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The project involves the <strong>University of Granada<\/strong>, <strong>Nord University<\/strong> (Norway), and the <strong>Polytechnic University of Turin<\/strong> (Italy).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Central to this effort is PhD candidate <strong>Francesco Angioi<\/strong>, currently based in Granada. During the meeting, the team reviewed the latest simulator results from CIMCYC and outlined the experimental scenarios for the coming months, focusing on how smart infrastructure affects driver safety and performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Future Outlook: From the Mediterranean to the North<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The next phase of the roadmap involves Francesco Angioi embarking on a <strong>visiting research period<\/strong> at the Polytechnic of Turin and Nord University\u2019s campus in <strong>Stj\u00f8rdal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By running experiments across different European simulators, the team aims to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Validate results<\/strong> across different technological platforms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Add a cross-cultural dimension<\/strong>, comparing how drivers from different regions react to Smart Road prompts\u2014a study that wouldn&#8217;t be possible without this international network.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;At the Traffic Lab, we believe that combining psychological research with simulation engineering is the only way to truly understand the future of mobility.
