Student Innovation Challenge
ArcticNext is a three-day innovation challenge hosted by Memorial University and Nord University.
From September 26–28, students will come together across campuses to develop ideas that strengthen Arctic communities — socially, economically, environmentally, and culturally.

The challenge is open to undergraduate and graduate students from Memorial University and Nord University.
No. All backgrounds are welcome, and no prior experience is required. You’ll get support from mentors, workshops, and templates throughout the event.
You can apply as an individual or as a team of 3–5 students. If you apply alone, we’ll do our best to match you with others.
The 2025 theme is Sustainable & Thriving Communities, with focus areas like infrastructure, space technology, tourism and culture, and community health.
You’ll work with your team to develop a solution, receive mentoring, attend workshops, and pitch your idea to a panel of judges. Plan for 12–15 hours over the weekend, including sessions, teamwork, and mentoring.
The event is in person at your own university. Memorial students will meet in BN-4015, and Nord students in the SPIR Innovation Lab. No travel is needed.
Yes, as long as you develop it further during the event and align it with the challenge theme.
You’re expected to participate in the full weekend, but if you have unavoidable conflicts, let us know when you apply.
