Katarina Pirak Sikku

Katarina Pirak Sikku (1965) is an artist and lives in Jåhkåmåhkke. Her photography, drawing, installation and text-based work take their starting point in the Sami family history and in historical facts that have influenced her personal life. In her way of approaching established visual worlds, she often uses subtle shifts that disrupt the principles that govern established conventions. Grief is an emotion that is invoked in her work, but there is also a lot of humor and generosity. With her low-key activism, she strives to arouse reflections on what is going on in the political and social arena as well as in private and public life.
