I juni 2025 var delar av prosjektgruppa på vitjing til Britisk Museum i London. Formålet med møta var dels å sjå kva for samlingar av sørsamisk materiale dei hadde. Dels var formålet å drøfte ulike forståingar og praksisar av historieforvalting og kulturarvspolitikk med denne sentrale institusjonen. Endeleg var formålet å undersøke mulegheiter for forskingssamarbeid.
Me blei tekne godt i mot, og fekk høve til å møte og diskutere med teknisk personale, samlingskuratorar og forskarar. Me lærte mykje om både museets forvaltingspraksis og kulturarvprogram, og reiste inspirerte til å utvikle forskingssamarbeid.
In June 2025 parts of the project group met with staff at British Museum, London. The aim of the meetings was in part to view their Saami objects in their collection. Partly it was to discuss understandings and practices of the heritage policies with this central institution. One final aim of the visit was to explore opportunities for future research collaboration.
We were generously received, learned a whole lot of the museum’s policies and current activities, and were inspired to persue research cooperation opportunities.
