The research station at Nord University is the starting point for our field work; home for our microscopy and experimental labs, sampling equipment and our research boats.
Our research boat Tanteyen II was put in operation in autumn 2024. It is a 15 m vessel equiped with all essential tools necessary to sample the marine environment in coastal waters.
Our mesocosm wet lab has a capacity of 72 tanks (50 l) with running sea water from 200 m depth in the fjord providing a constant temperature and salinity. We conducted ecological experiments with seagrass, macroalgae, deep water amphipods, cold water corals, polychaetes and sea urchins, to name a few.
