We have just finished the first part of an experimental study with the cold-water coral Desmpophyllum pertusum. We exposed the corals to a combination of two chemicals commonly used in aquaculture – Azamethiphos (an anti-sea lice bath treatment) and Tralopyril (an new anti-fouling agent to prevent growth of organisms on farm nets). We held a workshop on meroplankton identification at the fieldstation of Nord University, where Marc Silberberger (National Marine Fisheries Research Institute, Gdansk, Poland) gave an introduction about the diversity of meroplankton. Art meets science was the overarching topic of the project ‘Woman’s view of the Sea’, where female artists got inspired by female marine scientists and their research.
