We held a workshop on meroplankton identification at the fieldstation of Nord University, where Marc Silberberger (National Marine Fisheries Research Institute, Gdansk, Poland) gave an introduction about the diversity of meroplankton. In the project MarFilD we study seasonal and interannual changes of meroplankton in sub-Arctic fjords and assess how meroplankton may affect pelagic food webs. Identifying these larval forms of benthic organisms is often challenging and training is needed to identify the organisms. We used plankton samples from our time-series to identify those meroplankton species that are common in different seasons and we will compile our results in a photo guide for meroplankton identification in the lab.
