Erin Karine Villanueva Coronado

I am originally from Peru, where I completed my bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology at Universidad Científica del Sur. During my undergraduate studies, I worked on projects focused on benthic communities and marine sponges.

I later joined the International master’s in Marine Biological Resources (IMBRSea), which allowed me to study across several European universities. My master’s thesis investigated temporal and seasonal changes in epifaunal communities associated with Zostera marina meadows in the Skagerrak region.

In 2026, I started my PhD in Benthic Ecology at Nord University under the supervision of Professor Henning Reiss. My research focuses on temporal changes in sub-Arctic benthic communities, trophic interactions, and the role of larval supply in fjord ecosystems.

Outside of research, I enjoy crocheting, reading, hiking and exploring new places.
