Although science and art follow different paths, both offer unique ways of understanding the ocean, its creatures and forces. We find beauty in both, methodological research and creative expression, and we seek to connect these perspectives to inspire new ways of seeing the marine world.
Norwegian artists whose work is inspired by the sea have given us the opportunity to exchange ideas, share different perspectives on the ocean, and create a dialogue between artistic expression and scientific research. The first outcomes and starting points of these interactions are presented here.
