I come from a small town near Barcelona, but my fascination with the ocean has taken me to much colder environments! After completing my Bachelor’s degree at the University of Barcelona, I joined the International Master’s in Marine Biological Resources (IMBRSea), which allowed me to study across several European institutions. During my undergraduate research, I worked on the restoration of two vulnerable macroalgal species along the Catalan coastline. I later shifted focus during my master’s thesis to the benthic macrofauna of two Greenlandic fjords.
In September 2025, I began a four-year PhD at UNIS and Nord University under the supervision of Professors Arunima Sen (UNIS), Henning Reiss (NU) and Kasia Grzelak (IOPAN). My research focuses on meiobenthic communities in Arctic chemosynthesis-based ecosystems, with the aim of understanding their structure and role in transferring chemosynthetically derived carbon through the food web. Rapid Arctic warming is altering methane dynamics and benthic habitats, and meiofauna (highly sensitive to these changes) play a key role in mediating carbon flow in chemosynthetic ecosystems.
Outside of research, I love staying active through sports, playing the violin, and enjoying nice food, whether it’s cooking at home or trying new places.
