This research examines the interdependence between an effective transport system and enhanced regional socio-economic development.
The various factors relevant to this interrelationship will be assessed. First by reviewing the academic literature on the subject, as well as industrial and regional development reports from other regions where improved mobility and connectivity have clearly resulted in increased socio-economic development.
The research will also assess the importance of several regional indicators dealing with demographics and environmental, infrastructural, industrial, and cultural conditions in Northern Norway which could create challenges or have negative impacts on the development of a more effective regional transport system.
