From Nord University

Are you a student teacher at Nord University and interested in studying at Bishop’s University? The ELLiL project makes this possible!

What can I study at Bishop’s University?

You can choose from a vast number of courses taught in English. Click here for Bishop’s ELLiL courses to see the selection of courses offered in 2022-2023. There might be changes in the number of courses offered from year to year.  In addition to the courses, you will also experience teaching practice with a Canadian school mentor once a week in a school in the region. This will be counted toward the course ELP 300 (3 credits, i.e., 6 ECTS (studiepoeng)).

What about the number of credits/ECTS (studiepoeng)?

In total, you will be able to earn 30 ECTS/studiepoeng at Bishop’s University. These will be recognized as part of your study programme at Nord University.

When can I study there?

You can study there in your 5th semester – the autumn semester in your 3rd year of study.

What are the costs? Are there any scholarships?

As an ELLiL-project student, you will pay the semester fee as usual to Nord University. You do not have to pay any tuition fees (skolepenger) to Bishop’s University.

The costs for the semester include: travel, food, insurance, study material and accommodation at Bishop’s University. Through the ELLiL project you will receive two scholarships:

NOK 24,000 for the semester at Bishop’s University and

NOK 10,300 towards travel costs.

In addition, you will receive the regular support from Lånekassen.

I would like to travel with a fellow student. Is that possible?

The project supports the exchange of two students per year.

How can I apply for a seat at Bishop’s University?

Visit the Nord Exchange website and follow the instructions to submit an application by 20 January, 2024. If you have questions about the semester exchange, please contact the FLU International Coordinator, Charlotta Langejan.

What about a place to stay?

Choosing to live in residence means involving yourself in a community of people who are similar in age, who share your interests, and who are all at about the same stage in their lives. It’s about making new friends, being part of a community, and adjusting to life on your own. Read more about residence life here: https://www.ubishops.ca/future-current-students/student-campus-life/residence/
