Jensvoll Promoted to Associate Professor
The Department of English congratulates our colleague Maja Henriette Jensvoll on her promotion to Associate Professor of English Subject Pedagogy. Jensvoll has been teaching English and general pedagogy at Nord University since 2003. Jensvoll’s profile includes English subject pedagogy, school development and professional development, with an overarching focus on learning and knowledge. Her research explores modern English language pedagogy as concerns intercultural competence and the balance between the roles of English as a utility subject and a formative subject. She is concerned with students’ personal development, and how this connects to the national curriculum and its focus on lifelong learning, and her research on school development, professional development and professional identity shows in-depth knowledge of these fields.

Jensvoll’s professional background includes experience from all levels of the education system as well as her many years as a union representative for the Norwegian Union of Education, which gives her a solid foundation in the profession and enriches her research and development work.

Jensvoll says she is looking forward to the increase in research time that the promotion will give her, and she hopes to spend that time working with different research projects concerning aesthetic learning, assessment and teacher identity.
