Ny episode av RESPONSECAST sesong 2 er ute. I likhet med den forrige episoden er også denne på engelsk.
The last two decades of elite sport have been characterised by the release of numerous eligibility regulations for trans and non-binary women athletes. As a result eligibility was mainly guaranteed through testosterone regulations. The underlying discussion was hold against the background to guarantee fairness in competition, i.e. some stakeholders fear an advantage for trans and non-binary women on the grounds of higher testosterone levels. Currently the IOC has ceased testosterone regulations on their side, but international and national federations are issuing their own regulations. Anna Adlwarth’s phd research critically untangles the various aspects that have led to the current testosterone policies. At that, she sheds light on scientific hierarchies and processes of knowledge production. Her research thus aims to point out deficits in the bio-medical argumentation of the regulations and suggests to rather look for answers within the logics of competitive sport. In this podcast Anna talks with Prof. Anne about:
- Important terms to know related to gender non-conforming athletes
- The inclusion of trans and non-binary athletes in elite and grassroots sports
- The impact of the covid-19 pandemic on research
- Struggles related to finialising a PhD thesis
