Kostas Sagonas

Since my PhD I am interested in understanding the ecological and evolutionary responses of animals to environmental changes. My work involves diverse species, ranging from amphibians and reptiles to fish, with the strongest focus being on fish in recent years. I employ complementary approaches at the genomic, phenotypic, ecological and environmental level.

Currently, my research focus on the epigenomics of adaptation in three-spined and nine-spined stickleback, aiming to assess the role of epigenetic variation on populations adaptive divergence and ecological success. This research has societal relevance in relation to biodiversity, conservation and global change.
